A volleyball player became so popular in Asia that colleagues and her coach don’t want her in the team anymore
Sabina Altynbekova a volleyball player from Kazakhstan, became a real star on social networks after having made its debut at the Asian Championship, category Under 19, from Taiwan.
Aged 18 years, Sabina Altynbekova plays for the Kazakhstan national team, but didn’t think it will get millions of fans on the internet after she arrived in Taipei for a tournament for Asian teams.
Sports is so attractive that even her teammates are unhappy: the fans play more attention to her than to the whole team.
The local press, journalists have devoted whole pages for the volleyball player, focusing less on the team game.
Even youth national coach complained in the press in Kazakhstan: “Fans here are acting like it’s only one player on the team. I can not work this way.”
On Facebook, Sabina has raised hundreds of thousands of fans in China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia or the Philippines. “At first I was flattered, but it’s too much now” confessed Sabina of how much attention it has received.
